The classic wash, is the average light blue jeans, which is the most popular denim type for spring and summer. To create this look, bleach is added to raw denim after rinsing to lighten the color of the fabric. This style looks best when wearing a basic t-shirt for casual occasions.

2. Vintage Jeans

Vintage-style jeans, a.k.a is nicknamed the ‘distressed denim’, continues to be a major fashion trend for the last few seasons. This modern look is accomplished when raw denim is put through severe rinsing to appear antique and then sandpapering at the thighs, knees, and side seams. This effect creates a more semi or formal style, which makes a bold statement when matching a variety of shirt styles.

3. Dark rinse Jeans

Dark rinse jeans are the darkest of denim oftentimes untreated and washed more than once to reduce stiffness. The process creates a shading effect on the fabric traditionally around the pockets, knees, and seams. Dark rinse denim performs like a classic black trouser when styling. This looks works perfect with either a button-down or pull-over shirt. For a more sophisticated look wear with a fitted blazer.

4. Selvage Jeans

This type of denim is most popular with the younger generation. Selvage or “self-edge” jeans is unique, untreated, and wild. The edge of the fabric is white with blue threads which are used to construct the jean fabric. This version is most recognized by the two ends cuffed finishing with white vertical lines at the hem. Pull this look off with a stylish patterned shirt and matching denim jacket.

Jeans remain to be the most popular type of pant for decades. Today’s designer jeans provide self-expression, comfort, while adding an easy causal-cool style to any day/evening outfit. Whether dressed up or down learn what denim type best fits your personal style and body type.
